If anyone asked Len to describe himself, He’d say ‘Born and raised Texan cornbread with an extra drizzle of honey’. Ask his twin brother? He’d call him ‘A ham sandwich with extra ham’. Ask his Pa? Well, he’d say he was ‘born a troublemaker. Be a good one too if it weren’t for his heart’.
Different variations of the same man; all of them true, and then some. Standing tall and swaggering with a gait to make John Wayne turn tail, Len’s got dusty green eyes always looking for a bit of tit for tat, some ol’ hard pat. Those same eyes, however, are heavy from seeing more than he ever really wanted. Hands rough from a fair share of stealing, lips sly from lying, and tongue primed for cheating.
Of course time behind bars tends to sharpen such talents. Sometimes it tempers.
Sure, he’s a Preacher now. But if you googled his name you’d see a few decade and a half old articles on a bank heist gone wrong in Fort Worth. Photos of an anemic, younger man mournfully looking on at the testimony of a mother that lost her child during the ensuring shootout between Fort Worth’s finest and his crew. The shameful look of his Veteran twin brother and Oil Baron Father as they stepped out of the courthouse. An enraged, emaciated woman sneering from the sidelines as the pre-Preacher took the stand and testified that said woman, drew the gun down on the child. The plea bargain saving him from death row. His late wife? Not so much.
That’s just one of the many variations. The one he’ll tell people about openly, at least. Anything else you’d have to get to know him on. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a man truly looking for repentance with good deeds through the Good Word. Or maybe you’ll find yourself in another newspaper article just like his.

According to various sources from the Ars Goetia to the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, Vine (Also known as Vinea, or Vain) is a great demon king of the Night and Earl of Hell. Texts describe their office is to discover hidden things, consorting and counsel to witches, and divine things of the Present, Past, and to Come. It is said at command of an Exorcist they may build grand towers, overthrow great stone walls, churn the skies into vicious storms and make the waters (Ocean) rough with maelstroms. They may also be invoked by a Witch to learn more of magic or better their understanding in regards to it. Their legions number in 36 of various lesser demons and spirits.
In turn, Mortals often mistake Vine for the fallen angel and demon King Purson (Curson) , who knows and discovers all things hidden, tells of the Present, Past, and to Come and communicates with the shades of the Dead. In truth, they are one in the same; great Kings riding upon the backs of beasts with vipers in their hands, shaking the earth with each step to the sound of blaring trumpets.
Though the truth of what they are is something far older and cosmically sinister. The Demon is known among their kind to not be content amassing great legions and power to consolidate their own miniature empire. In truth, Vine’s motives are unknown- and they rather prefer to keep it that way. Though should another Demon ask of their purpose, they will only respond thus:
‘To keep the slumbering sleeping; to keep the Earth in our keeping.’
